Weldolet Inspections
The so-called “weldolets” are butt weld connections which serve both as minimisation of voltage peaks and as integral reinforcement.
The ferritic weld seams are inspected from outside regarding cracks, whereby the often high operating temperature of up to 540° C represents a special challenge for the inspection system and the inspection operators.
For the execution of the inspection a simple and rugged system was developed that serves as probe guidance and offers a 3-axle position pursuit.
The position data as well as the eddy current data are led to the inspection system and are processed there (e. g. as C-scan).
Advantages of the Weldolet Inspection with eddy Current
• the inspection can be done during the operation
• cooling-down (and again start-up) phases can be avoided
• inspection independently from standstill phases
